What is an Autoflowering Cannabis plant?
An Autoflowering Cannabis plant has a Ruderalis Cannabis Genetic, and without this cannabis Genetic! we would not have the Autoflowering strains.
The Ruderalis Cannabis plant enters into the flowering phase Automatically after one month from sprouting the seeds, this phase is also the reproductive phase, and ultimately it will die after reaching full maturity, usually within a 2/3 month life span, it grows and live’s it’s entire life cycle, all within 2/3 months, and can also have a life span of up to 5 months before reaching full maturity.
Fast maturing Autoflowering plants will reach its maturity within 7/8 weeks after sprouting the seeds.
The Ruderalis Cannabis strain, which has the Autoflowering Genetic, entered into the cannabis breeding Gene pool, going way back as fare as the 1970’s. Originating from Russia and Central Eastern Europe.
The Ruderalis Cannabis plant genetics were bread into a high THC Indica Cannabis strain, the breeders were intending to develop the worlds first stable high THC Autoflowering Cannabis Plant for faster medicinal and recreational high THC strains.
The success of this breeding program revolutionised the Cannabis breeding and growing community, and today there are hundreds of Autoflowering strains to choose from, mostly in feminized form.
Positioning Autoflowering plants into Greenhouses in the northern hemisphere from March to November offers incredible growing possibilities, Outdoors from May to October have also produced very satisfying end results in the northern hemisphere.
Indoors under lights, Auto’s will perform incredibly well, and growers will put them under 20 hours of light and 4 hours of darkness until maturity, but you can also put them under 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness, like normal photoperiod Cannabis plants.
Putting them on 12/12 hours will mature the Autos faster.
Plus you can grow both types of plants together in the same room.
Autoflowering plants are so user friendly for first time growers, they can be positioned into many different growing situations indoors and out, whichever growing choice the farmer desires.
Outdoors they can stand up to very harsh weather conditions and you can also harvest 2/3 crops from May to October in northern hemispheres ie all of Europe, and in greenhouses from March to the end of November.
